Michael and I have been trying to go on “dates” with the boys. It’s difficult sometimes, to make time to squeeze them in. I guess, only because it seems like we’re always going and sometimes, we just want some down time. Now that I think of it
, I kind of regret saying that because truly, I believe if something is important to you, you will make time for it. I guess its just a question of priorities….right? Well, off that soapbox…..
SO, my date with Gavin this time around was one that I like to do with the boys just before their baptism. We go to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in SLC and watch the movie they are showing there. For both Jared & Gavin, it’s been the movie that the church hasp put out about Joseph Smith’s life and the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in this dispensation. I really liked it. It was a good chance to chat one-on-one with my boys about the decision they are making when they choose to be baptized at 8 years old. Then, they can ask questions and I answer them the best that I can. Gavin and I went and got dinner, then went to watch the movie, and after that I brought his suit for him to change into so I could take some
pictures of him on the grounds. I was looking for some sort of portrait I could display at the baptism. It was really nice. After several minutes of “are we done yet?” we finished and Gavin and I went to an ice cream parlor across the street for a treat. I sure love my Gavin. He’s such a good kid with a very tender heart and a tough outer shell. I’m so proud of who he is and how much potential he has.
Michael’s parents came in town for the baptism and were staying up at his sister Maren’s house in North Salt Lake. The plan was that he was going to take the other boys to her house for fireworks that evening and we would meet up with him when we were finished, but much to our surprise, Mason came down with the flu. He threw up at Maren’s and that unfortunately ended the party for Michael. So, Michael text me to pick the boys up when Gavin and I were done and we headed up the hill to Maren’s to get the other boys. It was just in time for the fireworks show her city puts on and we were able to join for that! Poor Michael spent the evening with a very whiny baby at home
Julie & Hank were ther
e too with their girls and David joined as well. The boys had a fun time with all their cousins. It was a fun day…..with one unfortunate drawback.
