Gavin The Builder

Once again I have a kiddo who was involved in the school’s annual Gingerbread House Build Off for all 3rd grade kids.  I was supposed to help and was really bummed when it ended up that Michael was out of town for two weeks in a row and I had nowhere to put Mason.  Preschoolers were not “invited.”  So, I was stuck.  I took Gavin to the store the night before and it was liGavin Gingerbread House 2012ke he had a blueprint in his mind of what he wanted to do as he scavenged the candy aisles!  Sure enough, true to form, he made sure not to damage the goods and he came home with a detailed house.  It looked awesome!  He was pretty proud…..and so was I!  I had to laugh that night as I threw away the remnants of what remained of his build…..looked like a bulldozer had hit it (named Gavin) and there was next to nothing left!

I also have to share another funny Gavin moment.  The other day when we were driving in the car, Gavin randomly says, (as he is discussing the important topic of toothbrushes with Scott), “Mom, you know those toothbrushes called tooth tunes?” (These are power toothbrushes that play songs while you brush, to let the kids know how long they should be brushing).  I told him, “yah.”  His response, “Those are a total rip off!  They don’t even put songs in your head!”  I had to laugh out loud!  I then went on to explain that it wasn’t supposed to download songs in your head but was a way to let you know if you’d brushed your teeth long enough!  Such a funny kid!
